Nyxgate Obelisk

The Nyxgate Obelisk is an ancient monolith concealed deep beneath Requiem Estate. Little is currently understood about its origin, purpose, or the force that resides within it. Every known encounter with the Obelisk has been accompanied by profound and inexplicable events, suggesting that it represents something far older and more powerful than any civilization or mythology currently understands. It is described as a towering structure carved from an impossibly black stone whose surface absorbs light rather than reflects it. Across its exterior, intricate symbols continually shift and flow, creating the unsettling impression that the markings themselves are alive. Though their meaning remains unknown, the symbols appear to react to those who approach the monument, suggesting they serve a purpose beyond simple decoration.

The Obelisk repeatedly appeared within the dreams of Michael Toscani. He would see himself standing in a field, staring at the towering monolith and its ever-changing symbols. Although the dreams remained remarkably consistent, Michael had no understanding of what he was seeing or whether the structure even existed, yet the dreams remained remarkably consistent over time.

As the worldwide success of Fearless steadily weakened Phobetor, the ancient god searched beyond the fading boundaries of the dream realm for any source of power capable of restoring his existence. During that search, he became aware of an ancient presence unlike anything he had ever encountered. It belonged neither to Olympus nor to the dream realm, yet its power reached across existence with impossible strength. Although Phobetor neither understood its origin nor recognized its true nature, he believed it offered the means to restore the strength Fearless had taken from him and to once again establish a presence within the human world.

Unable to reach the source himself, Phobetor searched for a mortal capable of doing so. He found Logan Fisher. Night after night, Phobetor invaded Logan’s dreams, forcing him to relive the horrors of war, the weight of guilt, and the memories he had spent years trying to bury. As the nightmares continued, terror slowly gave way to conversation. Phobetor spoke to Logan within the dream realm, never revealing the full truth, but gradually steering him toward the place where the ancient source of power waited.

When Logan finally descended beneath Requiem Estate and came into contact with the Obelisk, the consequences were immediate and irreversible. The encounter transformed Logan Fisher into the being later known as Malfadar, marking the beginning of a chain of events that would forever alter the balance between humanity and the realm of nightmares.

The true nature of the Nyxgate Obelisk remains unknown. Its age, creator, purpose, and ultimate significance have yet to be revealed.
